The Guardian Warm Roof System

We remove the complete roof, including the sub-structure, glazing and the guttering.  We then fit a new purpose-built aluminium roof structure which is strong enough to take the weight of the warm roof and the internal insulation.

We then fit marine grade ply panels, a damp proof membrane followed by your chosen roof tile finish and new guttering on the outside.  The inside is lined with mult-layers of high performance insulation.  Finally its finished with plasterboard and then plastered.  Recessed lighting can of course be incorporated in to the roof during construction as can any other ceiling electrics.

Fitting a Guardian Warm Roof to your conservatory will completely change its feel and appearence, giving it much more of a “habitable room” feel.

We all know that that approximately 80% of the suns heat enters the conservatory through the roof, and this often makes it unbearable to sit in.  Installing a Guardian Warm Roof will stop this problem conpletely, you will be able to enjoy the room all through the summer.

Unlike conservatorties which are classed as temporary buildings, a structure using a Guardian Warm Roof is building regulations approved and therefore has a permanant habitable room classification.  This gives the option for the connecting door to be removed under a seperate clause of our building regulations application.

Wether this is approved can depend a lot on the specification of your conservatory frames and glass and indeed those installed in the main house.  We will be able to advise you during a site visit and survey on the suitability.

Even if we advise against opening-up the doorway completely, the installation of a bi-fold door can give you the same feel but also enables you to shut the conservatory off when you are not using it.

This is a very difficult question to answer as there are so many variables.

Obviously, the size of your conservatory affects the price, as does the shape and style.  There are also various options available for roof coverings, internal finishes, lighting options and velux skylights.  These all have an impact on the cost.

If you are thinking of installing a Guardian Warm Roof to your conservatory, you do not need planning permission. However we will undertake the whole Building Control application to ensure a smooth transition.  Guardian Warm Roofs come with full LABC approval, and this helps speed the process along.  In most cases we obtain the 'Initial Acceptance' within 10 days and this will give us the authority to commence manufacture. 

The process of installing your Guardian Warm Roof usually takes between three to five days, with as little disruption as possible during the process.

The installation date is obviosly weather dependant, however all existing flooring is protected whilst the room is open to the elements and work is under way.

We appreciate that most people are trying to use their conservatory as a room already and therefore we fully understand that time is of the esscence in completing the conversion.
